Ashley Graham is speaking out against the mum shaming she’s endured since giving birth to twins in January.
The American model took to TikTok to share a video about breastfeeding in public.
In the video, the mum of three unlatches her top as if she is about to feed her babies, and lip-syncs to the trending sound, “Prepare to be sick of me”.
Ashley captioned the post: “I’m not going to apologise for feeding my child.
“Also, my boobs hurt if I don’t.”
The comments on the video praised the mum for her message and ongoing advocacy for public breastfeeding.
“There is nothing more beautiful than a mother and her nursing baby. Anyone who thinks otherwise can go to hell,” the first comment read.
“If everyone else can eat in public, the babies can too,” a second said.
Ashley had previously posted a series of photos to Instagram sharing the realities of newborn life, captioning the collection: “I like it when your body goes pump pump pump.”
Some of the photos showed the mum pumping, breast milk leaking through her shirt, and breastfeeding with an LED face mask on.
She has also posted video messages about the struggles of postpartum life, including one recorded before she headed back to the gym after giving birth.
“Alright not gonna lie, this is my first sweat since I had the twins, it’s almost 11 weeks,” she began.
“I had a big-time recovery and now I feel like, okay, my body’s craving it, let’s go.
The 34 year old, who was already a mother of one, announced the birth of her boys, Malachi and Roman, and shared that they are a reminder that she “can do hard things”.
“My boys have been the greatest teachers and biggest reminders that I can do hard things,” she captioned the post.
“This has not been easy, but it’s so worth it.
“Still can’t believe I have three children. I can’t wait to share my birth and postpartum journey with you all soon.”
Ashely and her husband Justin Ervin’s first child is two-year-old son Isaac Menelik Giovanni.
In July 2021, the couple shared that they were expecting twins, with Ashley debuting her new baby bump on Instagram.
She posed in a field, wearing an unbuttoned white shirt dress, her eyes closed and hands cradling her the bump.
Ashley captioned the announcement: “The past year has been full of tiny surprises, big griefs, familiar beginnings, and new stories.
“I’m just beginning to process and celebrate what this next chapter means for us,” she shared.
Pregnancy journey
Remarkably, Ashley made it to 40 weeks of this pregnancy – a milestone rare with twins pregnancies.
Taking to Instagram, she announced: “Made it full term today (40 weeks!). Due dates are just a suggestion, babies will always come on their birthday.”
