This month saw many of our favourite celebrities talk about their breastfeeding journeys and milestones. There was some controversial topics discussed too! Scroll to see which celebrity breastfeeding moments made it on to our list for April 2024.
This month reality star Charlotte Dawson celebrated nine months of feeding her youngest son Jude. She posted a smiling selfie of her breastfeeding on a sunlounger on holiday. In her caption she wrote: “Feel so proud of myself & my udders that I’m still breastfeeding my judey the bond is just amazing🤱🏽💙 9 months in & im still loving our journey 🫶🏼”
Maddie Marlow, one half of the country music duo Maddie and Tae, posted a polaroid photo of her breastfeeding her infant son before a live music show. Dressed in a two piece outfit, she can be seen standing up and breastfeeding baby Forrest. In the caption she simply wrote: “Pre show vibes these days”. Maddie welcomed her first child with husband Jonah back in September 2023
Grammy nominated theatre star Carrie Hope Fletcher welcomed her first child with husband Joel last month. She posted a selfie of her breastfeeding her newborn daughter Mabel. In the caption she wrote “Just wanted to do my bit in trying to normalise breastfeeding wherever and whenever you need to. ucky to not have had any bad experiences with anyone being funny about it as of yet and hope I don’t because it’s 2024! Babies need to eat! 😅 But I’ve heard horror stories from other breastfeeding Mummas so I think the more we see it and normalise it, the better! ♥️”
Youtuber and mama of two Imogen Horton is currently breastfeeding her infant daughter. This month she uploaded a video to social media explaining how shocked she was by her doctors’ response to her still breastfeeding. She had been visiting her doctor for a matter unrelated to breastfeeding yet the doctor inquired about how long she planned to breastfeed for. Imogen explained how – since having her first child – she’d been breastfeeding two and half years straight. The doctor was shocked by this admission and made the comment that feeding past one year was too much. Understandably Imogen was angered by this response and called for people to empower women to continue breastfeeding – rather than making them feel guilty for their choices.
Reality TV star Lucy Watson recently gave birth to her first child, a son named Willoughby James Watson-Dunmore. This month she uploaded a series of photos showing what life was like 6 weeks postpartum. Amongst the photos was a beautiful black and white photo or her and her sister breastfeeding their children on the sofa together. It was a beautiful depiction of sisterhood and motherhood combined.
Mama or two and presenter Ashley James often calls out the objectification of female bodies in the media. This month she took the opportunity to discuss how she had been shamed for having large breasts since she was a teenager. This has carried through until the present day, where she continues to be shamed for wearing revealing outfits and even for publicly breastfeeding. She ended her impassioned post with the words: “The problem is not my body or my clothes. The problem is society’s hypersexualisation of b00bs. Enough!”. Here here!
Model and mama of three Vanessa Breuer regularly posts images of her breastfeeding her youngest child. She is doing her part to normalise breastfeeding past infancy. In her most recent post she can be seen breastfeeding her toddler in a doorway. She captioned the photo: “She still loves it 😝 all the time , whenever she can !”
This month saw Rumer Willis take a holiday with her two sisters and one year old daughter Lou. In a series of photos posted to Rumer’s social media account, the four girls posed up a storm in matching pink swimwear. The final photo showed Rumer breastfeeding her daughter as her younger sister looked on.
