A long time ago on the first Christmas day,
A baby was born and then laid in some hay.
A star shone down brightly just where he lay,
And three kings with three gifts set out on their way.
Three queens sat around wearing beautiful robes.
“What were they thinking with gifts such as those?”
It set them to thinking of that mama afar,
And soon they were trekking to follow the star.
On arriving they saw the new Christmas babe,
With their husbands’ odd gifts clearly displayed.
The first queen shook her beautiful head,
And instead offered plenty of warm stew and bread.
The parents ate heartily as the second queen rose,
And promised to stay to help wash tiny clothes.
She said she could cook, change nappies and sweep,
Whatever was needed while they all had some sleep.
The third queen pulled a note from under her cloak.
She handed it over as kindly she spoke,
“I breastfed my babies, call anytime.
This is my number and the breastfeeding helpline.”
