1. Megan McKenna Gets To Grips With Breastfeeding Her Newborn
Reality star and cookbook author, Megan McKenna, gave birth to her first child earlier this month. Megan and her footballer fiance welcomed a little boy named Landon Henry Burke. Since then Megan has kept her followers up-to-date with life as a new mama.
Speaking about breastfeeding, Megan has said: “I can proudly say I’m out the other end of the sore nipples, I fed through the cracks. Wow it’s not for the weak…Next mission to complete is getting this routine in place. I’ve been trying to keep the feeds longer and a couple hours apart.” She has received plenty of breastfeeding support in the comments, with people urging her to continue to feed responsively and not to worry about getting into a routine early on.
We’d encourage all new mama’s to prepare themselves for breastfeeding a newborn – check out this easy-to-read guide.
2. Jenna Dewan Pumps Behind The Scenes of the Rookie
Actress Jenna Dewan gave birth to her third child, a little girl named Rhiannon, back in June. She’s now back to work on the set of the US Cop drama Rookie, where she plays Firefighter Bailey. Of course she has been keeping her fans up to date with life as a busy working mama of three.
At the start of the month Jenna uploaded a series of photos to her Instagram page, one of which was a selfie of her using a hands-free pump to express milk whilst partially dressed in her Rookie Firefighter uniform! We love that wearable pumps can be worn inside a bra, enabling you to pump on the go without wires and plugs!
Wearable pumps can be a game-changer when returning to work. Check out this review to find out more.
3. Molly Baz Creates Controversy with Breastfeeding Billboard
Earlier this year Chef and author Molly Baz made headlines when she was pictured partially clothed and pregnant on a giant billboard on Time Square. And she’s back creating more ‘controversy’. This time she can be seen on a billboard breastfeeding her baby son.
Once again Molly teamed up with the infant formula brand bobbie for these attention-grabbing ads. In her Instagram caption supporting the advert, Molly writes: “this campaign is my wholehearted endorsement of a parent’s right to feed their baby however the eff they choose. pregnancy and childbearing looks different on everyone and so does the journey of feeding—so here’s to absolooootly all of it.”
The comments and feedback on the ad have understandably been mixed. Some people applaud Molly for normalising breastfeeding and formula feedings, whilst others have called out Molly’s collab with a formula company and feel the advert prayed on women’s insecurities around breastfeeding. What’s your take?
4. Anna Whitehouse Cries Over Spilled Breast Milk
Journalist Anna Whitehouse aka MotherPukka recently gave birth to her third child, a little girl named Lola. This is Anna’s first child with her fiance Olly Bretton and little Lola made her arrival into the world four weeks early.
Anna has been keeping her followers up-to-date with how she and her little baby have been doing in hospital. In her Instagram updates she has been honest about postpartum life saying, “Love to anyone else going through the brutal hormone crash at this point. Highs (snuffling her little head) and crashing lows (crying over spilled breast milk) that @olly_bretton has held me through from start to finish.”
We are wishing Anna and family all the very best as they get to know baby Lola at home together.
5. Vanessa Breuer Marks Two Years of Breastfeeding
This month Model Vanessa Breuer celebrated her youngest daughter Mila turning two – which also marked two years of breastfeeding! Vanessa regularly keeps her followers up-to-date with her family life on the island of Ibiza, as well as her adventures away from home for work. Throughout it all – even long periods apart from her nursling – Vanessa has continued to breastfeed her toddler. What an achievement!
Those who are breastfeeding a toddler deserve just as much support as those breastfeeding a baby. Here’s some resources for breastfeeding beyond infancy.
