Yes, you can still be fashion-forward and breastfeed!

Lyla & Leche are helping breastfeeding mamas stay stylish by putting the fashion back into breastfeeding

Yes, you can still be fashion-forward and breastfeed!

Newsflash! Breastfeeding doesn’t mean boring clothes and kissing goodbye to your fashionable credentials. Long gone are the days when breastfeeding clothes were basic and hard to come by.

Whereas in the past breastfeeding-friendly clothes were shapeless and anything but stylish, now they are fashionable and functional…if you know where to look! Paving the way for fashion-forward nursing-wear are Lyla & Leche. Co-founded by a breastfeeding mama and a fashion designer, they create beautiful high-street-inspired breastfeeding clothing to make every mama feel fab whilst nursing.

No more flaps or ill-fitting wraps!

Lyla & Leche

Only five months into her breastfeeding journey, and sick of frumpy and unflattering breastfeeding clothes with strange flaps and ill-fitting wraps, co-founder Laura knew there must be other mamas feeling as frustrated as her. Calling on one of her closest friends with years of experience in the fashion industry, together they knew they could do better for fellow mamas.

The research they did showed an overwhelming number of mamas felt equally as frustrated and restricted with wardrobe choices whilst breastfeeding. 90% of their current wardrobe didn’t fit or wasn’t fit for purpose and the breastfeeding-friendly clothes in the shops were considered frumpy and unappealing.

An overwhelming number of mamas felt frustrated and restricted with wardrobe choices whilst breastfeeding.

Lyla & Leche wanted to empower mamas to keep breastfeeding for as long as they desired, and they knew the right clothes would help them feel more comfortable and promote longer-term breastfeeding. Afterall, breastfeeding mamas deserve to feel good and look good when out and about feeding their little ones.

A (breastfeeding) dress for all seasons

Lyla & Leche

We all know how amazing a good dress can make us feel but many people mistakenly think that dresses are off the menu once they begin breastfeeding. We’re used to seeing breastfeeding-friendly tops but not dresses.

We’re also used to seeing maternity clothes that double up as nursing clothes, something that just doesn’t make much sense fit wise when you no longer have a bump. Lyla & Leche wanted to change this by designing breastfeeding dresses that were not only easy to feed in but stylish to wear too.

Lyla & Leche’s signature dresses are a breastfeeding mama’s holy grail of clothing items. Choose from midi dresses or mini dresses in a range of beautiful fabrics. Each one is a complete outfit that can be worn during any season, and that can be dressed up or down.

With its concealed zips, you wouldn’t even guess it was a breastfeeding dress, yet with one easy movement, you can feed your baby anytime, anywhere.  Even after your breastfeeding journey is over you may still find yourself reaching for this dress for an easy and stylish look.

Stunning prints that promote sustainable fashion

Lyla & Leche

Designing fashion-forward breastfeeding clothes that are flattering and easy to breastfeed in was top of the agenda, but so too was designing sustainably. With breastfeeding being one of the most environmentally friendly choices you can make as a family, Lyla & Leche were dedicated to working in harmony with the sustainable element of breastfeeding.

By sourcing fabrics and stunning prints that would otherwise have ended up in landfills, Lyla & Leche are changing the face of breastfeeding fashion for the better. This sustainable method helps fight against fast-fashion and gives people newfound respect for well-made and ethically sourced clothing. Introducing a new collection every season, Lyla & Leche show you can still be fashionably sustainable whilst feeling fabulous!

As they approach the anniversary of their first year in business, co-founder Laura says: “Nothing could have prepared us for the amazing year we have had. We’ve had new lines of dresses sell out in minutes, been surrounded by the most amazing support and have helped hundreds of women breastfeed stylishly yet comfortably. We are so excited for what’s to come!”
