In what has been another tumultuous and unpredictable year for many of us, we did see more breastfeeding news make the headlines than ever before.
Lots of well-known celebrities got real and honest about their breastfeeding journey – the good and the bad! But which breastfeeding photos made the biggest impact and went viral in 2022?
Ashley Graham made our list of breastfeeding photos that went viral in 2020 when she shared a naked photo of herself breastfeeding her son Isaac. In 2022 Ashley and her husband welcomed twins, Roman and Malachi. Once again Ashley documented her breastfeeding journey and was very honest about the difficulties and tiredness that came with feeding two at the same time.
One of the highlights of the summer was witnessing singer Alexandra Burke pump breast milk at Notting Hill Carnival. Just weeks previously, she had given birth to her first child and we were all amazed to see her rocking an amazing outfit, dancing, and singing – all whilst using a hands-free pump to express her breast milk. Multitasking doesn’t even cover it! This was all part of a campaign for the Elvie hands-free pump, featuring other Elvie ambassadors including Nicole Moses.
We love seeing mamas breastfeed on holiday and Coleen Garcia took it to a whole other level when she shared a photo of her breastfeeding on top of a paddle board. We have a feeling this mama is adventurous! At the time Coleen was on vacation with husband Billy Crawford and their nearly 2-year-old son in tow in Panglao, Bohol.
Just four months after giving birth to her first child, wrestler Ronda Rousey was back in the ring. She shared photos of herself breastfeeding and expressing milk for her child backstage at the Royal Rumble 2022. This is one hardcore, superstar mama!
Earlier this year actress Olivia Munn shared an emotional video on her Instagram about her breastfeeding struggles. Olivia specifically addressed her issues with low milk supply. Having just given birth to her son Malcome a few months previously, Olivia was prasied for bringing awareness to breastfeeding difficulties.
At the very beginning of 2022 Leigh-Anne Pinnock from Little Mix shared a powerful photo of herself tandem-feeding her twins. The black and white image was a beautiful and intimate moment captured.
In the run-up to the Royal Jubilee celebrations in June 2022 we learned that the late Queen Elizabeth breastfed her children. Royal mothers traditionally did not breastfeed their babies – the job was usually given to someone else. But this all changed when the Queen welcomed Prince Charles into the world over 73 years ago.
This year Rosie Huntington-Whiteley welcomed her second child with the actor Jason Statham. Rosie doesn’t often share family photos and so it was even more special when she shared a beautiful photo of herself breastfeeding her daughter from her bed.
